Fatality inquiry dates postponed

Edmonton... The inquiries into the deaths of Sharla Marie Collier and a 15-year-old female identified as D.B. have been rescheduled. The May dates have been cancelled. The new dates are:

Siksika

Judge to be determined

 

On January 2, 2006, D.B. was found suspended by her neck in the basement of her home.

 

 

 

** The Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act prohibits publishing the name of the child

 

Lethbridge

 

November 13-16

On November 16, 2002, Sharla Collier was found in a wooded area a short distance from the group home at which she worked. The cause of death was blunt force injuries to the head.

 

Public inquiries held under the Fatality Inquiries Act are limited to establishing the cause, manner, time, place and circumstances of death, as well as the identity of the deceased. The judge may make recommendations on the prevention of similar occurrences but is prohibited, under the act, from making findings of legal responsibility
