Fatality inquiry listing for June 2007

Edmonton... Public inquiries held under the Fatality Inquiries Act are limited to establishing the cause, manner, time, place and circumstances of death, as well as the identity of the deceased. The judge may make recommendations on the prevention of similar occurrences but is prohibited, under the act, from making findings of legal responsibility.

Edmonton

 

June 11-13

KIBBEE, Pattie Lee, 47, of Edmonton

On November 12, 2004, Pattie Kibbie was travelling in her vehicle when she was broadsided by another vehicle involved in a police chase.

Fort Saskatchewan

 

June 20-21

DELORME, Joseph Armand, 62, of Fort Saskatchewan Correctional Centre
9:30 a.m. Fort Saskatchewan Provincial Court
Judge D.G. Rae

 

 

 

On November 23, 2004, Joseph Delorme was taken to the hospital complaining of abdominal pain. He was admitted with evidence of heart disease and died later that day.

Calgary

 

June 20-21

RIVAIT, Carrie Anne, 27, of Calgary

Judge M.L. Graham

 

 

 

On November 11, 2004, Carrie Rivait was found unresponsive at a private residence while on statutory release. The cause of death was cocaine and morphine toxicity.

Rocky Mountain House

MEIORIN, Ted James, 40, of Trail, BC

On March 26, 2006, Ted James Meiorin became unresponsive shortly after being restrained by police. The cause of death was cocaine-induced excited delirium. Inquiry September 13-14.

 

Calgary

PAQUETTE, Jeremy David James, 33, of Calgary
2:00 p.m. Calgary Provincial Court

On April 4, 2005, Jeremy Paquette was engaged in underwater breath holding activities at a supervised public swimming pool when he was noted to be unresponsive. Resuscitation was unsuccessful and he died on April 8, 2005. Inquiry October 1-5.
