Task Force on Crystal Meth

Consultation Focus Areas

Six areas of consultation, or "cluster groups", have been created by the Task Force for targeted, in-depth discussions and consultations with key stakeholders, groups and individuals.

The six cluster groups of the Task Force are:

Youth
The Task Force will seek the views of youth, to understand their perspectives on crystal meth availability, treatment and prevention. Youth from all walks of life and communities, including those impacted by the drug and those who are not, will be engaged for their thoughts on the most effective solutions to the growing problem of crystal meth.

Aboriginal
The Task Force will consult with Alberta's Aboriginal peoples to learn about the impact of the drug on their communities and how enforcement, treatment, healing and prevention solutions can best address their needs.

Community
The Task Force will consult with communities to understand the impact of crystal meth on Alberta municipalities and communities, and gain an understanding of what is required to build support structures within communities.

Industry
The Task Force will consult with business and industry to understand the impact of crystal meth and methamphetamines in the workplace and seek solutions to build industry's ability to support Alberta companies and their employees in the fight against this drug.

Law Enforcement
The Task Force will engage the law enforcement community to better understand the issues surrounding crystal meth and methamphetamines, what is required to reduce supply and demand for the drug, and the role of law enforcement in addressing and preventing crystal meth use.

Healing
The Task Force will talk with those engaged in the treatment and healing for those addicted to, and affected by, crystal meth and methamphetamine, seeking best practices and holistic solutions that treat, prevent and heal.
