Young worker applies paint in autobody shop

Consultations begin today regarding the Employment Standards Code, which sets minimum standards for hours of work, overtime, minimum wage, general holidays, special leaves, rules for employing young workers, termination pay, and more.

A discussion guide and survey is available online where Albertans can provide feedback on an initial series of questions and offer comments on any other employment standards topic.

“We want to hear what Albertans think about the laws that govern their workplaces. The world of work has changed a great deal and it’s time to see where improvements can be made for the future. I encourage Albertans to read the Talking about Work discussion guide and complete the online survey, or send us their input.”

- Thomas Lukaszuk, Minister of Jobs, Skills, Training and Labour

Albertans have several options to choose from:

  • Request a hard copy version of the survey by calling the Employment Standards Contact Centre at 1-877-427-3731
  • Send written submissions to:

Employment Standards Code Review
Jobs, Skills, Training and Labour
8th floor, 10808 – 99 Avenue
Edmonton, AB T5K 0G5

Deadline for submissions is April 11.

Under the Building Alberta Plan, our government is investing in families and communities, living within our means, and opening new markets for Alberta's resources to ensure we're able to fund the services Albertans told us matter most to them. We will continue to deliver the responsible change Albertans voted for.
